SEMINAR 8. WIKI

Good evening,my dear followers.😍

                 Today I will be speaking in English. (P.S Good mood.)

                                           So, may be let's start.

        In this seminar we're speaking about the web technology "WIKI". What is the WIKI and what for do we use it? 

       Wiki is a web technology used for collaborative publishing on the web. Wiki is a type of server software that allows you to work with data on a remote server on the Web.  Wiki is used for collaborative publishing. A group of co-authors can freely add and change the content of the wiki website: rewrite texts, add new texts and images, add and link pages and more.

       Why use a wiki? A wiki has an advantage over a newsgroup or a forum—the wiki is continually improved and updated. In contrast, a forum may briefly excite a huge amount of passionate interest with the consequence that it will wander to untenable length and finally be unusable.

    

Genres of wiki sites include: 

1) Encyclopedias (ex. Wikipedia)

2) Corporate wikis (Corporate wikis are used to train new employees and harness the power of corporate synergy).

3)Educational wikis are mainly collective research projects. Focused around problem-oriented issues, these projects are typically developed by students and moderated by their teachers.

How to use WIKI in Education?

• -Dynamic Syllabus
• -Project Space
• -Discussion Board
•    I have been studied the WIKI experience and chose TEFLPEDIA.

•     I chose Learning English conversation questions and observed its content and   structure in detail.

•     We can  use this material in class. There are some aspects in the content: speaking, reading,listening (Watching a video in English without/with subtitles), writing, grammar( trying use English in real situations).

      They have the list of websites that provide free lessons. U  create a userpage and use it to advertise yourself and can participate in ongoing debates.

                         Teflpedia has articles which include advise for new teacher.
